Residential
schools
Residential schools were a horrible place where people
were taken away from their family for years on end. The idea of these schools
in our modern society is simply horrifying. I think that the residential
schools were an act of genocide against Canadian First Nations. I see that the
purpose of residential schools were to kill the Indian in a child. I feel that
it is terrible the amount of neglect the children in the residential schools
suffered. It seems that these schools were orchestrated to trick First Nation
children into thinking that they were less than human because of their race
and/or beliefs. In my opinion it is good that all the residential schools in
Canada are finally closed. After all the neglect, torture, death and almost
demise of the first nations culture people finally realized what was happening
behind the closed doors of the residential schools and shut them down for good.
It won’t fix the people that have been scared by the horrible things that
happened at the residential schools but is a huge step forward for racial
equality.
